Going into surgery can be frightening when you don't know what to expect.  Our Joint Success class, focusing on joint replacement, and our Back to Health class, focusing on spine surgery are both taught by a Registered Nurse.  These classes are designed to help ease fear and anxiety related to having a surgical procedure and educate patients on what to expect during their stay at the General.

Class participants learn about what will happen before, during and after surgery, as well as what to expect once they return home as far as pain, mobility and follow-up care.  During the class, a physical therapist will also explain specific exercises and equipment patients might encounter during their recovery.

Classes are open to those who have scheduled surgeries at the General, as well as others in the community who may be considering joint replacement or spine surgery.  For more information on these classes, please call (225) 763-4298, or see our class schedule.
